programming or operating a computer to use this learningware.  You need
only be familiar with the keyboard to respond to the questions that are
posed to you as you progress through the learningware.

The only key other than the usual typewriter keys that you will have
occasion to use is the ESCAPE key, which is usually labelled Esc.  You

The role of the computer in this learningware is to:
        (a) present questions and/or options to you;

This learningware provides interactive, systematic assistance with
problem-solving.  This assistance is provided via four or five problems
selected from each chapter of your text.  The difficulty level (1, 2,
or 3) of each problem is indicated on chapter menus.

When you select a problem from a chapter menu, you will get a statement
of the problem which remains at the top of the screen.  After reading
the problem, you will be given an opportunity to enter an answer.

If your answer is correct, you may either return to the menu or go
through an interactive solution of the problem.  If your answer is
incorrect, you will often get some hint and be given a second oppor-
tunity to enter an answer.  A second incorrect response will always
lead to a path through an interactive solution.
