You will need Adobe Acrobat reader in version 4 or 5 to read the book on this CD.

If you do not have this programme please click below to load it onto your PC.

Acrobat Reader Installer (for those without Acrobat 4 or above)
(This installs the English version of Acrobat 4 from this CD. The Adobe Reader Icon, right, connects to the Adobe website.)

If you already have Adobe Acrobat Reader 4 or 5 you should make the following adjustment to its configuration. Note that you will need full rights to your PC to carry out this change. If in doubt, contact your PC supplier or system administrator.

To ensure that this application functions correctly you will need to enable the Browser to Use Acrobat as a Helper Application. Internet Explorer or AOL will then start Acrobat or Acrobat Reader, which displays PDF files within an Acrobat window instead of within the browser window.

To configure Acrobat or Acrobat Reader as a helper application:

1. Start Acrobat or Acrobat Reader.

2. In Acrobat 5.0 choose: Edit > Preferences > General > Options

Or in Acrobat Reader 5.0 choose: Edit > Preferences > Options

In Acrobat 4.x or Acrobat Reader 4.x choose: File > Preferences > General.

3. In the Options section of Acrobat 5.0 or Acrobat Reader 5.0. deselect: "Display PDF in Browser" and "Check Browser Settings When Starting Acrobat".

In the General section of Acrobat 4.x or Acrobat Reader 4.x deselect "Web Browser Integration".

4. Click OK, and then exit from Acrobat or Acrobat Reader.

5. Restart Internet Explorer or AOL.

Note: The next time you select a link to a PDF file in Internet Explorer and AOL, a dialog box will prompt you to specify what to do with the file. If you select "Open this file from its current location" Internet Explorer and AOL open the PDF file in Acrobat 4.0 or later or Acrobat Reader 4.0 or later as a helper application. If you select "Save this file to disk" Internet Explorer saves the PDF file to your hard disk, from where you can open it later.
