Pskmail and fldigi 2.07 and the eeePC are a winning combination for mobile

and portable work!

I have made a special release for installation on the eeePC. Here is how:

1: First make some changes to your eeePC which will enable to use some
extra repositories.

Add the following lines to your /etc/apt/sources.list

deb http://xnv4.xandros.com/xs2.0/upkg-srv2 etch main contrib non-free
deb http://dccamirror.xandros.com/dccri/ dccri-3.0 main
deb http://www.geekconnection.org xandros4 main

To protect your default install, you must activate pinning so that your main distribution packages don’t get overwritten. Which could possibly cause stability issues.

Add following lines to /etc/apt/preferences (if it does not exist, create it).

Package: *
Pin: origin update.eeepc.asus.com
Pin-Priority: 950

Package: *
Pin: origin xnv4.xandros.com
Pin-Priority: 900

Package: *
Pin: origin dccamirror.xandros.com
Pin-Priority: 850

Package: *
Pin: origin www.geekconnection.org
Pin-Priority: 800

2: Install the archive pskmail-0.9.6_eeePC.tar.gz

- Open a terminal with ctrl/alt/t
- tar zxvf pskmail-0.9.6._eeePC.tar.gz
- rm pskmail-0.9.6_eeePC.tar.gz

Install pskmail:
cd pskmail-0.9.6_eeePC
sudo ./libinstall.sh
sudo ,/install.sh

copy fldigi to the user directory:
cp fldigi ../

cd ~

Start fldigi from a terminal with ',/fldigi --profile emc &'

start pskmail from the same terminal with 'pskmail'.

enjoy.

Rein PA0R

Updating to pskmail-1.0

Version 1.0 will run on the eePC without problems. Just follow the normal installation instruction.
(I.e. you only need to run the sudo ./install.sh from the pskmail-1.0xxx directory)

Problems with Fldigi

On the eeePC there are some problems with Fldigi (version 3.0 recommended). Sometimes fldigi will
crash the X-server when you enter text into the TX window. This does not happen when you use fldigi as a
modem for pskmail.
