- Very nice -- a work of art.
I would perhaps suggest using twisted pairs of the various runs of USB data lines. - Y'know, if you were to pay for all of those in an OEM laptop, it'd be FAR more than $854.38.2 Replies — best has 14 diggs

- That is pretty thoughtful, using the USB Hub and just stripping down components to their main boards.
In my opinion, wires and the extra components are laid out pretty well. - Below viewing threshold. Show (2 replies)It runs on winXP, why is this categorized under unix/linux?2 Replies — best has 5 diggs

If you say I could get a much better, powerful, plain old, regular laptop for the same money, I say: What's the fun in that?1 Reply — best has 2 diggs - Buried as he doesn't have the touchscreen, which to be honest, was one of the cooler mods that I've seen. And clearly, people don't have a clue what the difference between hacking and modding is.1 Reply — best has 1 digg
- Below viewing threshold. Show (1 reply)wouldn't this be illegal though if this was done in the u.s? i mean, the computer is fcc approved, but if you start jamming things in there, especially with long wires, it could transmit a whole bunch of unwanted signals and that could get you in trouble with the fcc. For example, if someone did a hardware mod and the computer started sending out a frequency that is used by airplanes to send an emergency signal, you would get in alot of trouble.1 Reply — best has 0 diggs

- Below viewing threshold. Show (1 reply)The Eee is fun, hackable, and VERY upgradeable. The future is Eee - a laptop for ordinary people. It is really OLPC for the Western world - affordable and functional. The rich will always have a Mac I guess, but truck drivers and Walmart greeters will have an Eee - and the Eee will do everything they want.1 Reply — best has 2 diggs

I've seen Kingston 2GB 677 ddr so-dimm for £27.99 with free delivery which is about $55 - What a fugly computer.
Why would anyone want to carry around that monstrosity?
You definitely won't be able to take it onto a plane or across the border in to the US, the border nazis would probably blow it up or something.1 Reply — best has 1 digg - Below viewing threshold. Show
- Nowadays linux drivers are available for almost all hardwares. Only thing required is courage from users to install linux and start using it in every day business or entertainment activities. Initially it look slightly odd on the eyes, since we got used to windows for more than a decade, it will be alright before switching to Vista.
